Chief Investment Officer (CIO)
OVERVIEW
A fast-growing real estate private equity platform — spanning manufactured housing, small-bay industrial, self-storage, and RV parks — is hiring a Chief Investment Officer to serve as second-in-command. This is a build-and-own role, not a caretaker executive seat: someone who wants equity-level upside, not just a bigger salary, and who's genuinely energized by scaling an organization rather than just managing what already exists.
🎯 WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Serve as the CEO's primary operating partner, and the main point of contact for the leadership team
- Own portfolio and corporate P&Ls — budgets, forecasts, and overall financial performance
- Oversee execution across acquisitions, asset management, property management, construction, and finance/accounting
- Help lead debt and equity strategy, financing, capital allocation, and portfolio leverage
- Turn the CEO's vision into an actual execution plan, and run it without needing the CEO in the loop day to day
- Build out the organization as it scales — processes and teams, not just oversight
- Step into distressed-asset or difficult-market-cycle situations when they come up
- Travel as needed to stay hands-on across the portfolio
🤩 WHY YOU MATTER
This isn't a role where someone manages what already exists — it's the role that lets the CEO focus on vision, relationships, and growth, because someone else is actually running the business.
💡 WHAT IT TAKES
- 10+ years of commercial real estate experience, combining real estate and finance — real estate private equity, investment management, REITs, family offices, or institutional real estate
- A mix of large institutional experience and time at a smaller, entrepreneurial or founder-led company
- Hands-on experience with both debt and equity financing — LP/GP structures, JVs, syndications, funds, and investor returns
- Manufactured housing, small-bay industrial, self-storage, or RV park experience is a real plus
- Comfortable operating through distressed assets or a difficult market cycle
- Familiarity with EOS is preferred
- An ownership mentality — someone who wants to build long-term value, not just collect a bigger paycheck
- Direct, candid communication paired with genuine emotional intelligence
- Willing and able to travel
🏆 THE PERKS!
- $175,000–$225,000+ depending on experience
- Participation in deals, Performance-based bonus
- Real long-term upside
- Health insurance, with the company covering 50% of the premium
